Since the founding of this country, Black People have been institutional targets of police abuse, coercion, and brutality. The most recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and Ahmaud Arbery have ignited national reactions and inspired citizens to voice their concerns against the systematically racist penal system that has disproportionately affected the lives of the Black community. The Executive Board of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity Chapter at The George Washington University stands in solidarity with the Black community and with anti-racism advocates. During these challenging times, it is important that we not only come together as a community and advocate for change but also that we help our community cope with this historical trauma.
We denounce white-supremacy and racial injustices.
The motto of the Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity states “love for humanity and justice for all.” We call on our members to speak out, educate the community, support Black brothers and sisters, and hold individuals accountable. We encourage you to sign petitions, call local representatives, and donate.
As aspiring future attorneys, we must not stay silent and complacent. If you would like to be an advocate of anti-racism, we have provided resources on our social media platforms in order to take action.
